Unhappy The Death Of AB?

Well I have a few things on my mind that have been bothering me recently in relation to AB and the release of Nightfall...

1) Will AB places such as Aspenwood, Saltspray etc still be open after Nightfall is realeased or will anet close them like the arenas?
2) If the AB places are left open will you still AB? More? Less? At All?

I love to AB so I'm really hoping these places are left open and If they are that people still AB
What are your thoughts and will you continue to AB?

Thanks for your thoughs

Why would they "close" them, they are a part of Factions?

I've only done the Alliance Battles two different times for a total of maybe 7 battles. I'm sure NF will consume most of my time when released, we'll see what happens after that.

With 6 months between games there will alway be people who are looking for things to do and so long as you can get into AB's reasonably well they will remain a viable place to play as the experience is quite a bit different than PvE or other PvP arenas.

ANet changed the design of the then-current game by "moving" the PvP arenas to the Battle Isles. It's not so much that they deleted them. ANet is not going to remove content from Factions, such as AB's, Aspenwood, Jade Quarry, Elite Missions, etc...

People will still play them because there are people aiming for titles that those places help them get. Also, if they want armor that uses Jade or Amber, they may play them instead of buying the materials. Or, it is possible that maybe people will play them just for fun... I wil l probably play them from time to time for any and all of the above reasons. I don't anticipate playing Jade Quarry as I have only been in there when I needed to map and have been unable to be attracted to it since it's so hard to get in a game there.

During both Nightfall preview events, Dervishes and Paragons were common in AB as well as Aspenwood (didn't play Jade Quarry). I don't se AB or the competitive missions suffering very much.
Early on, the population will be playing Nightfall, but after the game "matures" you will see enough AB and the like to play games consistantly.

the ABs will survive ... it's Aspenwood and Jade Quarry that might not. also the challenge missions at outposts deep in luxon and kurzick territories might not. except for Aspenwood, these places are already utterly deserted.

Here is how I see it:

AB won't die, but alliances will
people will stop caring about faction points and town owning.
AB will become less important.
AB will become sonething ppl do for fun, rather than fame.

I would still AB. I do right now till it gets to full and they start coming up with the no opposing parties, restarting countdown. AB is also the most fun way of getting amber or jade, though supply running for kurzicks and the convict arena for luxons give quick faction.
Not sure about the other missions. FA should be fine, and I can hardly ever get a game in JQ right now anyway. Though double faction for FA and JQ would be nice to draw more people in...

Plus ANet wants this game to be unlike anyother. So they are going to keep any special features open even after new releases. They want to give players the ability to mix the campaigns, mold new stories, go farther and become a complete n00b-killer.

And I ab all the time, so I'm sure as heck gonna keep doing it.

Someone is always going to want armor for something, so the AB and Aspenwood will doubtless continue to see play. However, I do see where the OP is going with this.

In AB this morning, it took 20+ (stopped counting there) tries to enter a PvP. I've been out of Ab for a while now, so the small number of groups forming--and playing--was something of a shock to me.

Aspenwood still has its nich players=a handful of dedicated people who just like a quick couple PvPs without stress for a little loot. Surprisingly, it was much easier to get in there.

And its also easier to gain faction there. Win or lose, guild or no guild, I think Aspenwood will continue to be "the place" to grind your 10k faction as the populace shifts out of GWF. AB will probably degrade slightly into its own nich players (alliance farmerss that want to farm urgoz and the deep; amber/jade traders, etc). While the honeymoon is certainly over for AB, I think it will survive. Its just too fun to die.

the only problem i see is the utter dearth of players. it's really disheartening to see jade quarry empty as, imo, it's far more balanced and superior to aspenwood. even aspenwood is a pain to get a game rolling - it takes way too much time. even if not every 30 seconds, at least every 120 seconds or something.... not 5+ mins.

i wish there was a way to reinvigorate interest in ab

I doubt AB will disappear.
But not that many people will be faction farming once titles are done for most people.
But most people will be still playing to get materials.
